  3. At the foundational stage, assessment should be continuous, child-friendly, and integrated with everyday learning rather than relying only on paper-pencil tests. In line with the FLN Mission (NIPUN Bharat), the following forms of assessment can be used:

Observation of children's participation during classroom activities.
    Oral questioning and classroom discussions.
    Storytelling, retelling, and picture reading.
Reading aloud to assess fluency and comprehension.
    Conversations and interviews with children.
    Play-based and activity-based assessments.
Role play, drama, and group activities.
    Drawing, colouring, and creative expression.
Portfolio assessment by collecting children's work over time.
Checklists and rating scales to monitor developmental progress.
Peer interaction and collaborative learning tasks.
    Projects and simple hands-on activities.
Self-assessment using smiley faces or simple reflection activities.
These assessment methods provide a holistic understanding of each child's progress in literacy, numeracy, language, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
